Capt. Tony’s Saloon, Ep. 163

Posted on November 12, 2016 by History Goes Bump Posted in Haunted Location .

Key West, Florida is the southernmost part of the United States. The city features man-made beaches, resorts, shopping, eateries and lots of history. One of the historical bars here is Capt. Tony’s Saloon. The building has a long and diverse history that includes brothels, speakeasies, morgues and much more. One of the former bars here was a favorite watering hole of Ernest Hemingway. The current saloon, Capt. Tony’s is a favorite gathering place for locals. It also seems to be a gathering place for customers from beyond the veil. Could it be because a former hanging tree once stood here? Join us as we explore the history and hauntings of Capt. Tony’s Saloon! The Moment in Oddity features a deadly magnetic strip on the Autobahn and This Day in History features the discovery of polar explorer Robert Falcon Scott’s body. We also have the fifth installment in the tird series of TimPrasil’s Spectral Edition in this one. This location was suggested by listener Maryann Barcomb.

St. Augustine Light Station, Ep. 76

Posted on October 17, 2015 by History Goes Bump Posted in Haunted Location .

We take you on the tour with us in episode 76! The St. Augustine Lighthouse is actually a Light Station, meaning that the lighthouse is accompanied by several outbuildings. This is one of the tallest and oldest lighthouses in America. We visited with several History Goes Bump listeners to experience the Dark of the Moon Ghost Tour. While many families lived here without incident, there were a couple that suffered tragedy. And it is through those tragedies that spiritual energy seems to have continued on, even after all these years. We had what seemed to be an experience of our own. Come with us as we share that and the history and hauntings of the St. Augustine Light Station. The Moment in Oddity features the Eillean Mor Lighthouse Mystery and This Day in History features the Battle of Neville’s Cross.
