Mystic Mountains, Ep. 500

Posted on August 17, 2023 by History Goes Bump Posted in Urban Legend .

Vast areas of the oceans have never been explored, but there are also places on the earth that have been left untouched. Particularly the mountains. Some are so high, men can only dream of scaling them. Others are so thick with vegetation, it is impossible to penetrate deeply. Fathomless mysteries are hidden within them. Several of these mountains have legends connected to them, making them mystical. The irony of many of these mystical peaks is that although they rise high above the horizon, their roots go deep, many ushering an entrance to the underworld. Join us as we share some of the world’s mystic mountains! The Moment in Oddity was suggested by Chelsea Flowers and features Skin Furniture and This Month in History features Betty Boop makes her debut.

St. Augustine Haunted House Investigation, Ep. 493

Posted on June 29, 2023 by History Goes Bump Posted in Haunted Location .

A haunted house in the city of St. Augustine is not unique. It seems every location near the historic downtown is haunted. But this house was fairly new, being built in the 1980s. We conducted an investigation here that lends credence to the theory that any place can have unexplained activity, regardless of age. Perhaps it is because of the land. Maybe things that happened in the house left spiritual residue. Or its also possible that spirits gather somewhere because of people seeking to communicate with them. Join us as we investigate a small house just outside of the historic downtown of St. Augustine! The Moment in Oddity features Penny Treasure and This Month in History features death sentences halted.

Haunted Cemeteries 26, Ep. 492

Posted on June 22, 2023 by History Goes Bump Posted in Haunted Location .

There really is no place quite as peaceful as a graveyard. The dead generally don’t talk. Introverts don’t have to pretend to read a book to remain undisturbed. Extraverts can take comfort in the fact that they are surrounded by a captive audience. Everyone can take solace in the idea that when they are gone, they will have a spot to keep their memory alive. Perhaps this is why so many of these cemeteries seem to be haunted. A spirit just wants to be near their memorial. Join us as we feature haunted cemeteries from England, Arkansas, Minnesota, Vermont, Florida, and Illinois! The Moment in Oddity features Got Milk? and This Month in History features the birth of Mildred J. Hill.
