History Goes Bump featured the Whaley House on an episode in 2016 and it has been on our bucket list to investigate for quite a while. We finally had the opportunity to do that in January of 2023 during a quick trip to hang out with family back in California. The Whaley House is the oldest brick structure in southern California and was built by Thomas Whaley, Jr. The home served a variety of purposes and sits on an old hanging ground, so it isn’t surprising that people claim that this is one of the most haunted houses in America. Join us as we share our investigation of the Whaley House! The Moment in Oddity features larger than life balloons and This Month in History features the birth of Andre Michelin.

One thing History Goes Bump knows is ghost tours. We’ve been joined by several tour guides on the podcast and on this episode, we are joined by our favorite, Cedric. Cedric has served our country in the military, worked as a Firefighter/Medic and founded a company creating leathercraft for the movies. He and his wife Eevie are also tour guides in New Orleans and he is an amazing storyteller. On top of that, Cedric and Eevie have their own paranormal investigation group called N.O.P.E. Cedric joins us to share his techniques and experiences while ghost hunting and to talk about some of the haunts in New Orleans, particularly in the French Quarter. Join us as we discuss ghost hunting New Orleans and beyond! The Moment in Oddity was suggested by Scott Booker and Paula Mitchell and features the Corpse Flower and This Month in History features the birth of Maggie Kuhn, Gray Panther founder.

It’s our 200th episode! The History of Ghost Hunting and some announcements about the show and EP Program! Supernatural activity has been a part of the human experience since the dawn of mankind. Our fascination and for some, reverence of this activity has lasted into our modern era. The desire to understand where this phenomenon originates and to somehow prove its existence via scientific means has come to be known as paranormal investigation or simply, ghost hunting. While we encourage people to not tempt the spirits, we are just as fascinated with the paranormal and it would seem only natural for us to explore the history of ghost hunting in our more recent history. On this episode, we will delve into the history of ghost hunting, explore the different techniques and equipment employed and discuss tactics that can be used to protect yourself from spiritual attachment and attack. The Moment in Oddity was suggested by listener BriAnne Barre and features The Big Chicken and This Month in History features Francis Gary Powers shot down over the USSR.
